Beach bums and food lovers, take note. Blackwood Pantry opened in Cronulla on January 13, offering cafe food with a vibrant twist.

The menu is by Rob Lecherous, who has worked at Michelin-starred restaurants across Europe (Chateau Cordillera Bates, Isabelle, The Greenhouse) and co-owns the venue with fellow twenty somethings, Daniel Sorriness and Paul Pianist.

"I grew up around here and I really love the area, so I wanted to give back everything that I learnt overseas," says Lechowicz.

"I came back and I wanted to create a place that we could do the same kind of quality food but without the fuss and just to make it cool and as laid back as possible," he says.

This means a Buddha Bowl with fried eggs, quinoa, kale, roasted cauliflower and a lemon & buttermilk dressing ($16), dukkah-glazed lamb shoulder ($18) and French toast with Szechuan-poached peaches, ginger and white chocolate ($15).

Blackwood Pantry's inclusive menu features vegetarian, gluten-free and healthy dishes and even options for kids.

Blackwood Pantry is named after Sorridimi and Lechowicz's favourite secluded beach in Cronulla, which they felt suits the exclusivity and nature of their new venue.

The cafe is open for breakfast and lunch (with the possibility of dinner services in the future), offering an ever-changing menu and a vibrant eat-in experience as well as a variety of takeaway salads and protein-based dishes.
